Stop entering CommSec trades by hand

If you're still logging every buy and sell into ShareCentral manually, there's a faster way. CommSec can email a copy of every trade confirmation straight to your ShareCentral portfolio, and ShareCentral will pick it up and add the trade automatically. Set it up once, and you're done.

Have five minutes and access to both your CommSec and ShareCentral logins? Let's go.

Step 1: Find your ShareCentral ingestion email address

  1. Log in to ShareCentral and, for your Portfolio, open Settings > Email ingestion & brokers.
  2. Copy the unique address shown there, it will look something like b8gea9721a2@ingest.sharecentral.com.
  3. In the Connected Brokers section, enable CommSec (toggle it to "Trade emails forwarded").

This address is unique to your portfolio. Don't share it, and don't reuse someone else's, any trades it receives will land in that person's account, not yours.

Step 2: Add it to your CommSec contact details

  1. Log in to your CommSec account and go to Settings.
  2. Click View or edit details and complete the security prompts.
  3. Scroll to Contact details and select Edit.
  4. Add your ShareCentral ingestion address as an additional email address on the account.

Step 3: Turn it on for trade confirmations

Adding the address to your contact details isn't enough on its own, you also need to tell CommSec to actually use it for confirmations.

  1. Go to Portfolio > Accounts and pick the relevant account from the dropdown.
  2. Select View or edit account details.
  3. Scroll to Trade confirmations and click Edit.
  4. Tick the box next to your ShareCentral ingestion address.
  5. Click Save.

Quick check: does your CommSec account only have one linked trading account, or several? If you trade across multiple CommSec accounts, you'll need to repeat step 3 for each one, ShareCentral only receives confirmations for accounts you've explicitly enabled.

Step 4: Confirm it's working

Make a small trade (or wait for your next real one), then check ShareCentral's Activity tab. You should see the trade appear within a few minutes of the confirmation email going out.

If it doesn't show up

  • Double-check the address in CommSec's contact details matches your ShareCentral ingestion address exactly, one typo and the email goes nowhere.
  • Confirm you ticked the box in Trade confirmations, not just added the address to contact details.
  • CommSec charges no fee for email confirmations, so there's no billing reason it would silently fail, if trades still aren't landing, contact ShareCentral support with the trade date and we'll trace it.

That's it, every future CommSec trade now finds its way into your portfolio without you lifting a finger.
